OverviewThe Resident Director (RD) position is a part‑time live‑in Graduate Assistantship which reports to a full‑time Area Coordinator. Resident Directors are expected to utilize their on‑campus apartment as their primary residence during the time of employment. As live‑in staff, RDs must be role models for the students on campus and are held to a high standard of ethical conduct. All academic work will be completed through an agreement with Western Illinois University.
The position is contingent upon full, regular acceptance into a College Student Personnel Masters degree program and successful completion of all employment requirements at Western Illinois University. The Graduate Assistant position includes a monthly stipend plus a tuition waiver. All course work will be completed online. The successful candidate will be responsible for books and additional course fees. The Graduate Assistant position will be an annual 10‑month commitment (August 1 - May 31) over two academic years.

Job Duties- Supervise a student staff of Community Advisors (CAs) within your assigned residence halls.
- Serve in the on‑call duty rotation with responsibility for 24/7 response approximately once every five weeks. Respond to calls and involve others as necessary for appropriate response to emergency situations.
- Serve as an adjudicating officer for policy violations for students residing in the residence hall.
- Track and manage all student keys for assigned residence halls.
- Participate in Residential Life Staff meetings and Dean of Students meetings.
- Co‑facilitate a weekly student staff meeting with Area Coordinator and bi‑weekly one‑on‑one meetings with CAs.
- Participate in opening and closing duties for residential life.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Prior Residential Life or similar leadership experience strongly preferred. Acceptance into the WIU CSP Master’s degree program is also required.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift 25 pounds on a frequent basis. Also required is the ability to listen, hear, speak, read, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for intermittently long periods of time. Must be able to use a computer to accomplish a variety of job tasks.
Special RequirementsAs key personnel overseeing student concerns, this position requires residence on campus in a designated housing unit. This position requires the ability and willingness to model the mission and high standard of behavior of Augustana College.
CompensationCompensation includes a partially furnished apartment, $1,000.00 meal plan, a reserved parking space, stipend payment of $1,224 per month, and tuition costs for the CSP Master’s degree at WIU.
