IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN I

Location: Winthrop University – 701 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730

Schedule: Full time; days and hours may vary. Details discussed during interview.

Pay Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour.

Required Experience: Two to four years of irrigation equipment experience, strong understanding of equipment operation, and the ability to obtain necessary licenses.

Summary: Performs routine labor associated with irrigation management, including digging, pipe repair, head/valve replacement, and small equipment operation.

• Repair existing underground sprinkler and drip systems, including repairing malfunctioning heads and nozzles.
• Adjust spray heads for correct coverage.
• Mitigate all irrigation‑related safety hazards.
• Operate equipment.
• Apply a surgical approach to all work.
• Maintain professional communication with technicians, irrigation supervisor, and the general public.
• Deploy for emergency response due to inclement weather (e.g., snow, ice, tornado, or other crisis).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Two years of experience in irrigation repairs.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 25 pounds and kneel, bend, or stoop for extended periods.

• Extensive driving, walking, and equipment operation.
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions, pesticides, fertilizers, pollen‑producing environments, paint, and petroleum products.
• Work time expectation: 90% physical labor, 10% training and miscellaneous tasks.
