Position:
Cook – Winthrop University, 701 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730. The role is full‑time and hiring immediately.
Schedule: Full time; days and hours may vary (details discussed during interview).
Pay Range: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour.
Requirements: Prior cooking experience with a catering or banquet background is preferred. Willingness to be trained.
- Prepares food in accordance with federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations, ensuring quality service at all times.
- Prepares high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
- Serves meals or prepares for delivery using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring proper temperature and attractive presentation.
- Tastes all prepared food items to ensure quality.
- Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and maintains accurate records.
- Cleans kitchen after preparation and service, maintaining high cleanliness standards. Stores or discards excess food following safe food‑handling procedures.
- Maintains refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized, ensuring proper storage of food and supplies.
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
- Assists in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as needed.
- Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Attends in‑service and safety meetings.
- Maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
- Performs duties safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follows HACCP standards.
- Personal commitment to your own safety and that of others.
- Abides by all company policies and procedures, including:
- Use of medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning slicers.
- Use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steam tables.
- Use of slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
