Electrician/ Electrician Installation, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: City of Rochester
Machine Tool Research is seeking a hands-on Electrical Technician to install, wire, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems on large machine rebuild and retrofit projects. This role is well suited for electricians with experience in industrial wiring, conduit installation, and electrical system troubleshooting who enjoy practical, project-based work rather than repetitive production environments.
You’ll work both in our Rochester shop and occasionally travel to customer sites to support equipment installation and startup.
What You’ll Do- Install and wire industrial electrical systems using schematics and electrical drawings.
- Run conduit, pull wire, and terminate connections for high and low voltage systems.
- Mount and connect electrical components and equipment.
- Perform electrical testing, system checks, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist with equipment startup and system integration.
- Travel to customer sites (20–25%) to support installation and troubleshooting.
- Work on large industrial machines in a hands‑on shop environment and travel to customer facilities to support installations.

- No production line work – Every project is different.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in commercial or industrial electrical installation, including conduit, wiring, and electrical equipment connections.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
- Reliable work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel 20–25% (including occasional overnight travel).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Technical training in electrical technology or related field is a plus.

Pay TransparencyIn accordance with New York State law, the expected hourly wage for this position is $28.00 – $32.00 per hour. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on experience, education, and related qualifications.
