Safety & Security Officer

Job Title: Safety & Security Officer Trainee
Location: Rochester Regional Hospital
Hours: 40 per week

The trainee will learn and demonstrate the duties of a full security officer, including performing security patrols, answering security calls, conducting initial investigations, and responding to emergencies. The role emphasizes customer service and teamwork and includes on-the-job training in all essential security functions.

• Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and emergency drills while gaining hands-on experience.
• Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
• Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively under guidance to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• New York State Security Guard License within 90 days of hire.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.

• Strong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress or emergency situations.
• Demonstrated interest in security, safety, or law enforcement.

Medium work. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. May require lifting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and or 10 to 25 pounds frequently.

$21.00 per hour.
