SummaryThe role is responsible for assisting in maintaining the safety and security of the Rochester Regional Health facilities, under supervision. The trainee will learn and demonstrate the duties of a full security officer, including performing security patrols, answering security calls, conducting initial investigations, and responding to emergencies. The role emphasizes customer service and teamwork, and the trainee will receive on-the-job training in all essential security functions.
Responsibilities- Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and emergency drills while gaining hands‑on experience.
- Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
- Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
- Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively under guidance to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NYS Security Guard License within 90 days of hire.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Strong interest in safety and security, public safety, or law enforcement.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in high‑stress or emergency situations.
- Demonstrated interest in security, safety, or law enforcement.
Medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
