This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position (Monday‑Friday, 11pm–7am) with a pay rate of $16.23 per hour plus shift differentials.
General ScopeMaintains the security of the building and meets the safety needs of the residents. Performs scheduled light maintenance and housekeeping as directed by the Summit Facility Services Manager.
Education / QualificationHigh school graduate or equivalent. Must have completed the Security Guard Act 8, 16‑hour training class and an annual 8‑hour certificate from an accredited school. Additional security training from a police academy, recognized military or civilian training may supplement the requirement. Must hold a current NYS certificate in compliance with the Security Guard Act and a valid NYS driver’s license.
Essential Functions- Conduct walking rounds of the interior and exterior of the Summit buildings to ensure safety, remain alert and observant for hazards or security breaches.
- Investigate and report all fire hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Respond promptly to all emergency situations and conduct investigations when needed, submitting written reports.
- Assist residents, visitors and staff.
- Monitors security cameras located at the concierge station.
- Maintain a written log sheet of all activities and submit it at the end of each shift.
- Coordinate and control activities at all emergencies until arrival of competent authority.
- Become proficient at operating the main telephone switchboard and any other system(s).
- Conduct fire safety inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, and fire safety equipment checks.
- Perform duties in accordance with Summit policy.
- Act in a professional manner at all times and treat others with respect.
- Maintain confidentiality of all residents and facility information.
- Answer all incoming phone calls and respond accordingly.
- Lock and unlock designated areas.
- Maintain a written log sheet of all activity in the concierge communication book.
- Monitor the Lifeline System at the concierge desk. When away from the desk carry the pager, a two‑way radio and cell phone which is turned on at all times.
- Provide responding fire, police and ambulance personnel with professional assistance and accurate information.
- Provide escort service to vehicles as needed.
- Follow all prescribed OSHA safety regulations related to this position.
- Shovel/sal, add salt to sidewalks during winter.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
One (1) year of security experience in health care or a related field is helpful. Experience with MS Office and MS Outlook is preferred.
