Compensation: $19.13 - $25.95 per hour (first and last step pay rates in the applicable collective bargaining agreement)
- Assist in gathering food supplies and equipment for cooks.
- Assist cooks in the preparation of food and may perform grill and broiler activities independently.
- Tend foods that are cooking, test for progress, adjust cooking time/temperature, and add seasonings as directed.
- Prepare beverages and other items, including special diet foods and short‑order foods on grills or in broiler.
- Peel, wash, trim and cut vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese and other foods; measure and mix ingredients according to computer‑generated recipes.
- Prepare servings of food items; make up patients’ trays and serve food onto a food truck or containers.
- Observe precautions against deterioration and degradation of prepared foods, foods awaiting preparation and leftovers awaiting proper storage.
- Remove food from carts when returned; wrap, store, process or discard as directed.
- Clean utensils, equipment and work area; store food in prescribed manner and follow all sanitation and safety instructions.
- Obtain and arrange food, supplies, and utensils; prepare ovens, fryers and grills.
- Ovens, microwave ovens, ranges, grills, fryers, steamers, steam kettles, broilers, mixers, tilting brazing skillet, choppers, blenders, grinders, slicers, woks, tenderizers, bowls, kettles, pots, vischer cookers, vertical cutter mixer, toasters, pans, utensils, measuring cups and spoons, knives and other related equipment.
- Knowledge of food‑preparation methods.
- Ability to read and write in English and understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- At least one year of experience in commercial food service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to lift items weighing approximately 40–50 pounds.
