Base pay range

$18.00/hr - $20.00/hr

Position Summary

The Dining Services Team Leader is responsible for leading breakfast and dinner service to Members in assigned area and for other designated duties in the kitchen and dining room areas in absence of manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Checks the daily staffing and makes the necessary decisions to ensure that the kitchen can operate effectively.
  • Informs Managers of any absences and/or tardiness.
  • Takes the temperature of the walk-in coolers, refrigerators and freezer and records them on the appropriate logs.
  • Ensures that all the Food Service Associates are following proper safety guidelines, as well as, correct uniform guidelines.
  • Assists in on-the-job training.
  • Works in dish room and/or tray line as assigned, following correct procedures to insure clean and sanitary service to Members.
  • Monitors tray line and check trays completing for accuracy.
  • Performs cleaning functions as assigned.
  • Informs the Management team of any equipment not working properly, as well as, any resources needed.
  • Answers phones, makes appropriate changes to tickets.
  • Delivers items to the neighborhood when able to.
  • Participates in in-service education, department meetings and safety programs.
  • Ensures that all tasks are performed accurately and effectively.
  • Prints tickets for the next meal and productions sheets for the next day. Completes the daily staffing sheets.
  • Performs other duties as required by Management or by Administration from time to time.

Other Job Functions

  • Maintains a clean and organized workplace that is also utilized by co-workers.
  • Participates in in-service education and safety programs.
  • Performs other duties as requested, including covering for the employee cafeteria worker, stocking neighborhoods, working in dish room, delivering food carts, assisting tray line, and filling oxygen tanks for the neighborhoods.

Expectations of the Position

  • Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly,” hospitality-oriented, and service-oriented personality.
  • Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).

Qualifications of the Position

  • Education:

    High School Education at a minimum. Associate Degree preferred.
  • Experience:

    Food Service Experience and knowledge of food safety standards.
  • Skills:

    Ability to read, write, and do simple math calculations. Basic food knowledge and ability to apply it. Ability to organize and perform responsibilities independently. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner. Customer service focused; ability to work well with others.
  • Licenses /

    Certifications:

    Serv-Safe certification and/or County Sanitation certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must meet the general health requirements.
  • May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Residents or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Residents, visitors and team members during emergency situations.
