Federal Work Study, Student Employee, Archaeological Lab Technician
Pay: $15.50/hr.
Job DescriptionPart‑time Archaeological Lab Technician to assist Dr. Daniel Tyree in prep and analysis of artifacts recovered during the annual MCC Archaeological Field School (ANT 205). Responsibilities include cleaning, labeling, cataloging, photographing, preserving, and conducting initial analyses on various types of historical artifacts—including pottery, tools, bones, and more. Maintain detailed records and databases for further study by archaeologists and historians. May assist in research by compiling and analyzing archaeological data, which could result in presentation and/or publication of findings.

- Cleaning, labeling, cataloging, photographing, preserving, and conducting initial analyses on artifacts such as pottery, tools, bones, and more.

- Able to prioritize tasks and maintain an organized approach to work.
- Can work with limited supervision.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail‑oriented with analytical skills to classify, categorize, and catalog artifacts accurately.
- Has problem‑solving skills to identify and address issues during the artifact analysis process.
- Working knowledge of Excel.
- Interest in pursuing a degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or History.
- Previous work in a lab setting.
- Experience with photography, especially while utilizing real‑time computer software.
- Knowledge of website development using Word Press.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Hours per week:
Up to 20 hours/week.
