Rochester Midland Corporation, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of specialty chemicals, is searching for an experienced Laboratory Technician for their Rochester, NY office. The Quality Assurance Technician, under minimal supervision, conducts quality assurance inspections to ensure company products adhere to established specifications, provides direction to manufacturing for batch adjustments when needed, calibrates and standardizes laboratory equipment/instruments, and maintains records according to company policy.
The position is onsite at the Rochester facility. Only candidates in the Rochester NY area will be considered.
Essential Job Functions- Perform testing on raw materials and products as described on batch tickets, work instructions or as requested by the R&D chemists
- Ensure that products adhere to quality assurance specifications and all test results are entered into the Vicinity Manufacturing Software
- Provide direction to adjust batches using information on the batch tickets; with experience, advises on more complicated batch tickets and adds further adjustment instructions to formula as generated
- Ensure that the laboratory instruments are standardized and in good working order
- Calibrate laboratory equipment per work instructions daily
- Maintain files, records and retain sample room according to company policies
- Provide direction to Production on Disposition of Nonconforming Material and Rework (X-locations)
- Provide testing and support as needed to resolve Customer Complaint Forms
- Performs similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required
- Associates degree in chemistry or closely related field
- Prior experience in QA/QC laboratory preferred
- Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to multi-task
- Teamwork oriented
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, with a working level knowledge of mathematics
- Strong administrative, organizational and planning skills
- Problem solving
- Critical thinking
- Effective communication (verbal, listening, & written)

- Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday
