The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care to dialysis patients, managing both chronic outpatient and acute cases. Responsibilities include charge nurse duties, administering blood products, cannulating accesses, monitoring equipment, and responding to emergencies. The role requires floating to other dialysis locations and adapting to varying shift needs.

Responsibilities:
- Perform charge nurse duties for a 24-chair unit when assigned.
- Provide coverage for an 8-station acute dialysis unit.
- Administer blood and blood products.
- Cannulate AV grafts and AV fistulas.
- Monitor and troubleshoot dialysis equipment alarms (air foam detector, arterial pressure, blood leak detector, blood pump, conductivity, dialysate pressure, power failure, temperature, ultrafiltration, venous pressure).
- Perform blood glucose monitoring.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Implement infection control measures.
- Respond to dialysis-related emergencies (air emboli, cardiac arrest/CPR, chest pain, clotted access/poor blood flow, disequilibrium syndrome, filter blood leak, fluid overload, hemolysis, hyperkalemia, hypotension, muscle cramps, pericarditis, pyrogenic reaction, seizures).
- Conduct dialysate conductivity testing.
- Manage tunneled and non-tunneled catheters.
- Ensure absence of disinfectant in the system.
Required Skills &
Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in dialysis.
- Experience in chronic outpatient and acute dialysis.
- Ability to cannulate AV graft and AV fistula.
Preferred Skills &
Certifications:
- Charge Nurse experience.
Special Considerations:
- Required to float to all other dialysis locations.
- Occasional Sundays may be required due to holidays.
Scheduling:
- Guarantee of 40 hours per week.
- Monday through Friday, 5:30 am - 10:30 pm, 8 or 12-hour day/evening shifts based on department needs.
- Every Other Weekend (EOW): 5:30 am - 10:30 pm, 8 or 12-hour shifts.
