Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide skilled nursing care to patients in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), which is a critical care step-down unit. The RN will manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7, requiring experience with arterial lines and vasopressor titration. The role involves continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring for adult, acute care patients who require more specialized care than is available on a general medical-surgical unit.

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the IMCU.
- Manage a patient load with a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio.
- Monitor patients with continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry.
- Provide airway management and acute BIPAP support.
- Manage patients with arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed.
- Perform peripheral line care and management.
- Administer respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Implement isolation precautions.
- Document patient care in EPIC.
- Respond to patient needs in emergency situations.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State (NYS)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience

- Experience with arterial lines and vasopressor titration

- Experience with a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for Med Surg
- BLS certification
- EPIC charting experience

- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
