Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a current NY RN license, advanced certifications, and strong EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in an adult and geriatric Emergency Department within a hospital setting

• Assigned to day/night rotating 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a) over an 8-week contract

• Required to work every other weekend and to be available for every other holiday if needed

• Patient ratios are typically 1:5 with all emergency-type diagnoses

• Care includes adult and geriatric populations with a broad range of emergencies including neuro-trauma, cardiac, ortho trauma, and pediatric emergencies

• Uses Epic for electronic charting with experience required

• Frequent use of specialized equipment such as bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment

• Floating to other units within skillset is required

• Responsibilities include triage, management of trauma cases, isolation precautions, and care of stroke, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury patients

• Emergency Department features advanced technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, trauma suite, and state-of-the-art equipment

• Team structure supports rapid patient care and includes access to specialized services

• Scrubs must be navy blue and white

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Pre-start online modules are required as part of orientation and training

Requirements

• Active New York single-state RN license in hand at time of application

• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department nursing experience

• Demonstrated competency with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, starting and maintaining IVs, and IV vasopressors

• Experience in ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, and cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmias

• Proficient in Epic EMR charting

• Applicants must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
