About the role: The Emergency Department (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients experiencing life‑threatening conditions requiring complex clinical assessment and technologically intensive therapies. The RN assesses, implements, evaluates patient response, and provides health teaching and counseling, all under direction and supervision of the client representative.
Responsibilities- Complies with ATC policies and client facility nursing policies.
- Conducts individualized patient assessment, prioritizing data collection based on patient needs and condition.
- Performs ongoing nursing assessment as directed by protocols.
- Collaborates with team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Performs physician‑ordered treatments, therapies, and hemodynamic monitoring in a timely manner.
- Provides individualized patient and family teaching.
- Documents assessments, findings, and psychosocial responses to interventions.
- Initiates emergency measures per adult/pediatric and client advanced resuscitation protocols.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Delivers patient care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner, considering cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
- Advocates patient rights concerning advance directives and organ donation.
- Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift and as needed.
- Maintains competency in emergency care through continuing education and state requirements.
- Observes ethical conduct and professional nursing standards.
- Delegates effectively and appropriately.
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
- One year of recent RN experience in an Emergency Department.
- Current CPR at least ACLS level; TNCC and/or PALS as required.
- Other health and screening tests as required by facility or regulatory agencies.
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
