Nursing Shift Supervisor – Per Diem at Rochester Regional Health
. The Nursing Shift Supervisor is a nursing leader who serves as a resource for problem‑solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, and facilitates patient flow during off‑shift schedules (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays). The role is a per‑diem, off‑shift schedule position located in Rochester, NY.

• Provides on‑site leadership and oversight during off‑shifts in hospital or long‑term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management.
• Supports staff through clinical problem‑solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Rounds on patients with concerns, admitted Emergency Department patients, and actively facilitates patient flow and decision‑making in collaboration with the care team.
• Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, while advocating for patient rights and shared decision‑making.
• Ensures appropriate documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; serves as liaison across departments and with leadership.
• Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional healthcare activities.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for all new candidates prior to hire.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Medium work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
