Position: LVN / LPN
Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) provides appropriate nursing care as directed by a Registered Nurse. This includes gathering and reporting data, carrying out orders, and performing therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population-appropriate manner, consistent with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

- Gather and report patient data.
- Carry out physician orders.
- Perform therapeutic procedures on patients.
- Provide appropriate nursing care as directed by an RN.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment/supply needs.
- Notify appropriate department of equipment malfunction.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Current LVN/LPN license in the state of New York
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Prior experience in emergency or critical care environments
- Experience working with vents/trachs/PICC lines
- Two years of experience in direct patient care

Special Considerations:

- Must be able to take own patient assignment, with the support of an RN.
- Every other weekend is required.
