Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – General Surgery
Rochester Regional Health is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for the General Surgery Department at Rochester General Hospital. The position is full‑time, 36 hours per week, with a day/night schedule.
OverviewAs an LPN, you will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and support patients and families throughout the surgical continuum. The General Surgical Unit (2800) serves pre‑ and post‑surgical patients across a wide range of specialties, including general, colorectal, plastics, breast, bariatrics, urology, ENT, and neurosurgery.
Responsibilities- Promote and restore patients’ health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with physicians and other team members.
- Perform various treatment procedures and provide physical, educational, and emotional support to patients, friends, and families.
- Administer medication and communicate relevant reports to and from staff as per departmental protocols.
- Document patient encounters concisely, accurately, and completely using the electronic medical record.
- Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.
- Graduated from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent.
- Current licensure in the State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- At least six months of LPN experience.
BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association). LPN licensure in New York State (NYSED).
Physical RequirementsMedium work: intermittent exertion of 20–50 lbs, frequent exertion of 10–25 lbs, and persistent exertion of up to 10 lbs. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
Pay$27.00 – $33.00 per hour. The base pay is a good faith estimate and may be modified in the future.
