Youth Development
The Program Director is responsible for the design, leadership, and sustainability of 441 Ministries’ youth and young adult programs by recruiting, equipping, and empowering volunteer leaders and mentors, ensuring that direct ministry is multiplied through healthy systems. The Program Director supports 441’s mission to bring hope, healing, and holistic development to Beechwood by creating and maintaining ministry environments where everyone takes positive steps towards growth and flourishing.
Requirements- Maintain a personal relationship with Christ and be in good standing as a member of a local church
- Be passionate about connecting with and investing in children, youth, young adults, and families
- Have experience in urban ministry and a high cross-cultural competency
- Have previous non-profit or local church ministry experience
- Desired but not required:
Bachelor’s degree or higher education and residence in the city of Rochester, ideally in the Beechwood neighborhood
The Program Director will step into this position directly overseeing three key ministry areas with varying levels of implementation (Kids Club/Camp, Cafe Apprenticeship Program, and Teen Outreach). The goal of all three ministry areas is to create environments where fruitful long-term relationships can develop and draw out the gifts, talents, and dreams of all participants as we pursue flourishing together.
ResponsibilitiesThe Program Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for 441 Ministries’ youth and
young adult programs, with a primary focus on equipping and empowering volunteer leaders
and mentors to carry the ministry’s relational and programmatic work.
- Lead and oversee Kids Club, Kids Camp, New City Café Apprenticeship Program, and Teen Club / Teen Outreach.
- Design, implement, and maintain clear systems, structures, and expectations that ensureprograms are healthy, consistent, and sustainable.
- Recruit, train, coach, and support volunteers, mentors, and emerging leaders, prioritizing leader development and multiplication over direct ministry dependence.
- Ensure each program area is staffed and led by capable volunteer leaders and is not reliant on staff presence for day-to-day effectiveness.
- Oversee the structure and effectiveness of the New City Café Apprenticeship Program in partnership with Café leadership, supporting mentors as they guide apprentices’ personal and professional development.
- Lead the development and growth of teen ministry by building and equipping a volunteer leadership team and establishing consistent engagement with local teens.
- Maintain a visible, relational presence with youth and families while intentionally delegating primary mentoring and leadership responsibilities to trained volunteers.
- Research and apply best practices in urban youth and family engagement.
- Develop a strategy to see a pathway from kids ministry to teen ministry to Cafe apprenticeship that supports long-term development.
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Director regarding program health, volunteer development, challenges, and opportunities.
