Molding Operator

Located in Rochester, NY, G&H | GS Optics was founded in 1916 and specializes in custom design and manufacture of precision polymer optics for a range of markets including biomedical, diagnostics, machine vision, analytical instruments, military and civilian night‑vision and sighting applications. The company also offers in‑house capabilities in diamond‑turned prototypes, injection molding, thin‑film coatings and integrated optical assemblies.

Job Type: Full‑time

• Inspect and “degate” injection‑molded polymer optical lenses of various sizes and shapes.
• Accurately package parts that meet customer and production quality standards.
• Report production metrics, including cycle time and scrap rates, in the ERP system.
• Operate molding machines and perform basic secondary operations such as milling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, contamination‑free workspace.
• Read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety protocols, and process control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, process technicians, and quality assurance personnel to resolve production issues.
• Communicate operational or quality concerns proactively to the appropriate team members.
• Participate in inventory checks and prepare materials for the next shift.
• Assist in developing and updating work instructions and process improvements.

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Prior manufacturing and/or inspection experience.
• Familiarity with injection‑molding operations.
• Understanding of ISO 9000 standards (preferred).
• Knowledge of customer satisfaction and quality expectations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a production environment with an emphasis on cleanliness and quality.
• Basic computer proficiency, particularly in data entry and ERP systems.
• Commitment to safe work practices and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with and adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, the 2015 standards, SPC practices, and work‑safety practices.

$18.00 – $22.00 per hour
