Overview
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is recruiting a Director, Center for Campus Life to join the Student Affairs division on site in Rochester, New York. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a strategic, creative, and student-centered professional to shape the co-curricular experience at a dynamic and evolving university. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and provides innovative and strategic leadership for campus life initiatives serving all undergraduate and graduate students.
Role scope includes major events and traditions, new student orientation, student clubs and organizations, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Women, Gender, Sexuality and LGBTQIA+ programming, Spirituality and Religious Life, commuter services, student union management, and the business operations that support all Center functions and student organizations.
This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who balances innovation with tradition, can lead complex operations, and creates inclusive experiences that support student success and connection.
Job Responsibilities- Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Center for Campus Life leadership team, supporting program development, staff success, budgeting, and operational effectiveness.
- Establish and communicate a clear vision for the Center, including short- and long-term goals, success metrics, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Oversee a complex operating and revenue budget exceeding $4 million, ensuring strong fiscal stewardship and alignment with university and divisional controls.
- Develop and implement programs, services, and experiences that enhance student engagement, retention, persistence, and graduation outcomes.
- Design and launch new initiatives that engage faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners in enriching campus life at RIT.
- Collaborate across Student Affairs and the broader university to deliver cohesive, student-centered programs aligned with RIT's mission.
- Engage directly with students to address complex concerns, provide guidance, and ensure appropriate support and follow-up.
- Communicate the impact of Campus Life through compelling reports, presentations, and service on divisional and university committees.
- Serve as an administrative advisor to RIT Student Government, supporting student leadership development and shared governance.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- 6-8 years of senior-level leadership experience supporting student development and campus-wide engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading and supervising professional staff in a complex organization.
- Strong fiscal planning and budget management experience.
- A data-informed approach to program assessment and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse student population and advancing equity and inclusion.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships grounded in respect, empathy, and accountability.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Doctorate in a related field.
