Sr. Manager, Demand & Inventory Planning

Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager of Demand and Inventory Planning is responsible for leading end-to-end demand planning, forecasting, inventory optimization, and replenishment strategy across all product categories and over 1,100 stores. This role ensures inventory investments align with customer demand and financial targets by leveraging data, systems, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will drive availability, reduce excess and obsolete inventory risk, and improve GMROI through strategic planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand Planning & Forecasting

• Lead the enterprise-wide demand planning process across key categories.
• Partner with Category Management, Supply Chain, and Finance to align forecasts.
• Facilitate monthly 3-way forecast meetings with suppliers and distribution partners.
• Build and maintain statistical forecast models incorporating trends, seasonality, and promotions.
• Monitor forecast accuracy, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide 12-month rolling inventory and purchasing forecasts to internal and external stakeholders.

Inventory Management

• Develop and execute strategies to optimize service levels, inventory turns, and GMROI.
• Oversee SKU-level replenishment and safety stock policies.
• Manage inventory targets in alignment with merchandising and store execution strategies.
• Identify opportunities for inventory rebalancing, returns, and repositioning.

Analytics & Reporting

• Build dashboards and KPIs to track forecast accuracy, in-stock performance, and inventory health.
• Analyze data to identify demand trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure timely and accurate inventory data from suppliers and distribution partners; manage risks via substitution, alternate sourcing, and inventory prioritization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Merchandising, Category Management, Finance, and Operations to align planning and execution.
• Serve as liaison between merchandising and supply chain teams.
• Lead and participate in S&OP meetings to ensure alignment on demand and supply.
• Manage and develop a team of Purchasing & Replenishment Specialists.
• Effectively lead onshore and offshore team members to drive accountability and results.
• Foster a data-driven, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or related field; MBA or APICS certification preferred
• 6+ years in demand planning, inventory management, or supply chain analytics, preferably in retail or wholesale
• Expertise in forecasting tools and ERP systems
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
• Proven ability to improve inventory efficiency and service levels
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration
• Capable of managing offshore resources and distributed teams
• Proficient in business tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and merchandising platforms

Professional office setting with standard equipment use. Must be able to sit/stand at a computer for extended periods. Occasional weekend or holiday work may be required.
