Job Summary
The Sr. Director of Corporate Relations works closely with university senior administrators, department leadership, and faculty to develop and advance university‑industry relationships. This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating partnerships with companies aligned to the university's mission, managing a portfolio of approximately 50 corporate prospects, creating fundraising and partnership strategies, soliciting gifts above the $100,000 level, and coordinating effective donor stewardship.
The Sr. Director cultivates relationships throughout the RIT community, including academic affairs, sponsored research, government and community relations, fundraisers, and the co‑op and career services office to optimize campus‑wide corporate contacts and outcomes. This role maintains strategic relationships with corporations to ensure a sustainable stream of corporate support for the university and reports to the Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Job Responsibilities- Develop an understanding of the educational, research, operational, and financial needs and goals of assigned and new corporate partners.
- Closely collaborate with deans, faculty, research, other academic leaders, and advancement officers to identify fundraising priorities, develop and implement strategies, prepare proposals, plan and execute engagement activities, and prepare reports.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 50 corporate prospects, creating strategies for those prospects and regularly soliciting gifts of $100,000 or more.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and directing strategic engagements for corporate prospects.
- Make appropriate use of time and resources; plan travel efficiently while continuously updating the prospect management database with information related to donor strategies, proposals, contacts, and results.
- 7 years of successful major gift fundraising or customer‑centered constituent engagement, business development or marketing/sales experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to manage complex projects and to effectively manage detail.
- Sophisticated interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Knowledge of the research environment.
- High degree of computer literacy and an interest in learning more about management information systems.
