Overview
The Application Test Lead (ATL) is a quality assurance role responsible for defining test strategies, coordinating integrated test events, and ensuring quality across complex, cross-team projects. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on responsibilities
, including regression monitoring, debugging test scripts, and training team members. The ATL serves as the focal point for test planning, execution oversight, and communication, ensuring testing gaps are mitigated and quality standards are met.
Strategic Planning & Coordination
- Define test strategy for team projects, including timelines and sizing.
- Identify cross-team dependencies and coordinate with Solution Leads and SMEs.
- Drive communication of business workflows and use cases to ensure complete coverage.
- Lead and coordinate Integrated Test Events
, including wiki creation, defect tracking, and reporting. - Schedule and facilitate blitz testing events when appropriate.
- Create and distribute project communications for testing activities.
Testing Oversight & Execution Support
- Monitor and run nightly regression on pre-production environments.
- Debug, run, and maintain automated test scripts as needed.
- Ensure sanity and regression tests pass during support sprints.
- Perform post-release exploratory testing and support sprint testing.
- Assist in major incident triage and troubleshooting
. - Track and resolve environment issues impacting testing.
Documentation & Governance
- Review and lead discussions on test plans and test case scenarios
. - Sign off on test documentation for Salesforce Development projects.
- Maintain dashboards and KPIs, including:
- Metabase Regression Scores
- Testing Analytics
- Tier Regression
- Benchmark Dashboards
Collaboration & Training
- Attend all Agile ceremonies for supported teams (requirements, grooming, UX review, sprint planning, standups, retros).
- Train Software Engineers and other team members on application workflows and testing best practices.
- Provide feedback on professional development of Agile team members.
- Influence teams through strong relationships and application knowledge.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion cost-effective improvements and automation optimizations.
- Coordinate transfer of test scripts ensuring acceptance criteria are met.
- Add Jira labels to stories impacting other teams.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 3+ years in software testing or QA leadership roles.
- Experience with test planning, regression monitoring, and debugging automated tests
. - Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SDLC processes.
- 2+ years of experience in Salesforce.
- 2+ years of experience in Selenium.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of testing principles, automation frameworks, and defect management.
- Ability to train and mentor others.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM) and reporting frameworks.
- Preferred:
- ISTQB or similar QA certification.
In the spirit of pay transparency, the starting base pay range for this position is $70,000-$98,780 annually. This range is the base pay and does not include other components of total rewards. Final compensation is determined based on location, skills, education, and experience.
