Systems Engineer, Cloud Computing
Location: City of Rochester
Overview
We’re looking for a bright and enthusiastic Platform Engineer to join one of our high-performing agile teams and help shape the foundations of our Calero cloud platform.
You will work across infrastructure, backend services, developer tooling, and automation, ensuring our systems are secure, scalable, observable, and easy for application teams to build on.
The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work on highly innovative, highly visible and business critical software that gets used every day within the world’s largest financial institutions and multi-national organizations.
What you’ll be doing- Designing, provisioning, and maintaining cloud environments in Microsoft Azure, including AKS, Virtual Machines, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, and Front Door, etc.
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Terragrunt, and managing Kubernetes workloads through Helm and Azure Dev Ops.
- Building platform tooling and libraries in C#/.NET, following software-engineering best‑practices (SOLID, DRY and modern architectural patterns).
- Supporting and evolving distributed micro‑services using Autofac, EF/EF Core, Rebus, Topshelf, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Enhancing observability using Open Search, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Collaborating with engineers across backend and frontend teams to ensure reliability, performance, and smooth deployments.
- Contributing to event‑driven and message‑based systems using Rebus, Rabbit
MQ, Signal
R, and legacy MSMQ. - Maintaining platform security through Azure AD, OAuth/OIDC, JWT, and secure secrets management.
- Working with modern AI technologies including Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, embedding models, RAG pipelines, and Libre Chat to support intelligent platform capabilities.

The salary range for this position is $87,000-$100,000. It is important to Calero that potential candidates for this position understand that compensation depends on numerous factors including the geographic location where the role will be performed, skills required, experience, complexity, travel, and market rate. Calero aims to reward performance and attract top talent with competitive, fair pay and benefits. Please note that the top of the salary range represents exceptional, and/or senior‑level positions, that meets all required qualifications.
