Per Diem Chaplain at Highland Hospital of Rochester, NY

The Per Diem Chaplain provides spiritual care for patients, families and staff. The Chaplain functions as an interdisciplinary member of the patient care team addressing emotional, mental, spiritual and other support needs.

Coverage schedule: daytime (8 am-4 pm) and evening (4-8 pm) availability to cover open shifts on an as needed basis when regular staff is absent. The Per Diem Chaplain may also have the option of filling overnight shifts (8 pm-8 am on‑call from home) or weekend shifts (8 am-12 pm) depending on interest or availability.

Salary Range: $23.03 - $32.30 per hour

Note: The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, considering market data, education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

• Masters of Divinity or a Master’s Degree in a related field (required or in progress)
• A minimum of one unit of continuous professional education (CPE) required
• Ordination or commission to function in ministry by an appropriate religious authority preferred
• Faith group endorsement as a chaplain or equivalent preferred
• Board certification preferred
• A broad interfaith theological knowledge base and familiarity with the diversity of religious experience across cultures
• A knowledge of both the practice and the management of Spiritual Care in a health care setting preferred
