Compensation Range:
$63,003.00 - $80,600.00
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities- The Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Performance at the University of Rochester Medical Center seeks a dynamic professional with strong clinical and performance enhancement skills to join a growing team, led by Dr. Craig Cypher, a clinical and sport psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant. The candidate will work with athletes and elite performers in a newly built facility, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including sports medicine, physical therapy, nutrition, and strength and conditioning.
- Provide expertise in evidence-based mental health treatment and performance enhancement services grounded in research.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and participate in a program that features CHAMPP and the Saunders Center for Orthopaedics & Physical Performance.
- Perform complex psychosocial intake assessments to evaluate diagnostic needs for athletes, elite performers, and their families within a collaborative sports medicine program.
- Develop and implement comprehensive, individualized treatment plans with clearly defined therapeutic and performance goals.
- Conduct psychotherapy sessions for athletes and elite performers addressing mental health issues and the psychological aspects of injury recovery using evidence-based approaches rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy and sport psychology.
- Deliver mental performance sessions for athletes and elite performers using evidence-based techniques grounded in sport psychology research.
- Design and deliver educational and engaging team interventions and presentations tailored to coaches, teams, and sport organizations in the community.
- Consult and collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary team within URMC Orthopaedics and Physical Performance and as part of the UR Fitness Science team, coordinating with nutrition and strength & conditioning disciplines.
- Adhere to documentation and recordkeeping expectations, including timely entry of patient encounters in the URMC electronic medical record, in compliance with program, department, and hospital regulations.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts for the sport psychology division and UR Medicine Fitness Science, including program and curriculum development, data capture, evaluation, and analysis.
- Assess successful completion of therapeutic goals and plan termination of treatment; coordinate with referring providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with community and health care agencies, professional and administrative staff, and coordinate with administrative support regarding scheduling, fees, and insurance.
- Maintain professional standards and continuing education requirements to meet NYS licensure maintenance requirements as appropriate.

- Master's degree from a CACREP-accredited program with major coursework in mental health counseling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
