Crisis Clinician (COTI Mental Health Crisis Clinician)

FLACRA is seeking a compassionate and skilled Crisis Clinician to join our mobile crisis intervention team. The role provides on-site and in-community crisis intervention and stabilization services to children, adults, and families experiencing heightened behavioral health symptoms. The Crisis Clinician delivers timely, person-centered care to support individuals in crisis and help them return to stability.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a human services field with the ability to obtain licensure or certification, or the ability to immediately gain provisional status.
  • Licensure or eligibility for permit status as an LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, LCAT, or LMFT is required.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with crisis staff in triage and screening of individuals in crisis.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments in partnership with staff and other involved parties.
  • Use RHIO, PSYCKES, and other databases to inform assessments and create informed service plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized, strength-based, trauma-informed service plans tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Provide crisis counseling, psychoeducation, and de-escalation strategies to address immediate concerns.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions through individual, group, and family counseling, both on-site and in the community.
  • Provide ongoing observation and monitoring of individuals receiving crisis services.
  • Work collaboratively with other care providers, family members, and key supports to foster recovery and wellness.
  • Create and implement wellness and safety plans in collaboration with the individual and their support system.
  • Engage in aftercare planning, including discharge and transition plans.
  • Refer clients to higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
  • Link clients to community resources to address their social, physical, and behavioral health needs.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to FLACRA’s mission, vision, brand pledge, and shared values.
  • Attend general, staff, in-service, and supervisory meetings as required.
  • Keep current with all licensure or certification requirements.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with community groups, referral sources, and service agencies.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and flexibility, collaborating with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Respond appropriately to crises and emergencies to ensure client safety and well-being.
  • Adhere to documentation standards set by FLACRA, OASAS, and OMH.
  • Provide professional and compassionate services, treating all clients with dignity and respect as a representative of FLACRA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse individuals, staff, and community providers.
  • Knowledge of local behavioral health systems and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience with electronic records (E-records).
  • Comfort in providing behavioral health services in both clinical and community settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both English and Spanish-speaking clients.
