Responsibilities- The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology.
- Prepare patients and equipment, operate fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensure high standards of patient care and safety.
- Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures.
- Scrub in for sterile procedures, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile field.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details.
- Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Maintain radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment and ensure readiness for procedures.
- Manage and restock procedural supplies (e.g., catheters, guide wires, contrast agents).
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care.
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols.
- Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
- Valid ARRT, RCIS, or RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
The IR Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring high standards of patient care and safety. The IR Technologist works closely with the interventional radiologist and healthcare team to support complex vascular and non-vascular procedures in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
