* The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. *** Responsibilities:
** Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring provider orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies.

** MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
*** Shift is Tues-Friday 1:00pm-10:30p
* Systems:
Medical Record (eRecord), Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), patient transport, communication systems.
* CT scanners:
Philips Brilliance 16, 64, iCT (256), Ingenuity (128), and Siemens Flash. Medrad Injector
- Stellant Computers with general office products, database management software, patient tracking systems and post processing software.
* Patient Insta-Dose, Point of Care Testing (POCT) instrumentation for pregnancy and creatinine.
** TYPICAL DUTIES:
*** Identifies patient service requirements.
* Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
* Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices;
* Moves equipment into specified position; adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
* Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained.
* Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider's orders.
* Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
* Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
* Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of CT images by following established standards, orders, protocols and procedures.
* Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA), using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls.
* Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
* Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
* Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.
* At an advanced level, may train new employees or lead day to day work activities.

* QUALIFICATIONS:
*** Completion of formal training in an approved school of radiologic technology.
* Maintains current NYS licensure and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Basic Life Support certification (BLS) certification with CE credits as required.
