Join the Highland Hospital of Rochester NY team as a non‑clinical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in our inpatient Obstetrics unit. This brand‑new position offers flexibility, a purpose‑driven environment, and an opportunity to shape the future of obstetric care at Highland.
Job DescriptionHighland Hospital is looking forward to adding APPs to our inpatient Obstetrics team for this first time! These newly created roles will provide added support and care for our growing patient population. Candidates for this role can expect to work three (3), twelve‑hour shifts per week which may consist of Days/Evenings or Nights. 36 hours of clinical work and 4 hours of administrative time are set aside for APPs each week.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) assesses, promotes, and contributes to the quality care provided to patients and their families throughout the hospital continuum. The APP provides clinical leadership through advanced practice role‑modeling and professional communication. Specialization includes in‑depth graduate study of relevant theories and scientific knowledge related to a selected patient population which promotes the ability to analyze and refine practice.
In collaboration with the health care team, the APP monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical expertise to improve patient care and patient outcomes.
- Provide direct patient care and timely documentation of care to a complex obstetric patient population.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve patient care issues in an effort to meet the care needs of the patient in an ethical and culturally sensitive way.
- Model excellence in practice through the use of advanced concepts in assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of perceived, actual, or potential problems that occur in patient care.
- Actively and regularly participate in teaching OB/Gyn, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine residents, medical students, and other junior learners, as applicable, in the evaluation, assessment, and management of accepted labor & delivery clinical care standards.
$98,000.00 – $ annually. The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Job Requirements- Education: Fulfilled the requirements to be licensed NP or PA in New York State.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience. Strongly prefer previous clinical specialization in an inpatient Labor & Delivery or obstetrical triage work environment.
- License/Certification
Required:
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of New York. Certification in Fetal Monitoring required within twelve (12) months of hire date, with ongoing documentation of competency in Fetal Monitoring every two (2) years. - Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Effective teaching skills. Proficient, efficient, and safe independent clinical practice capability. Competent computer skills (MS Office software, keyboarding). Excellent collaborative teamwork skills required.
