Full time, 40 hours per week, Day shift (United States of America) Work Week.
Compensation Range: $36.87 - $47.93 per hour (pay determined by market data, experience, qualifications).
ResponsibilitiesGENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Medical Director and leadership, with latitude for independent judgment, participates in the oversight of POCT program's quality and compliance. Serves as a liaison between laboratory and non-laboratory testing personnel at a variety of professional levels by effectively providing education, training, testing guidance, and compliance reporting across the clinical enterprise. Responsible for the review, testing and validation of new POCT instruments and platforms and participates in test system maintenance and compliance.
EssentialFunctions
- Provides initial training and ongoing competency assessment for health care staff outside of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, both on and off campus, performing point-of-care testing.
- Performs documentation audits.
- Reviews quality control records and documents quality statistics for point of care tests and communicates quality summary to appropriate health care team and supervisor/nurse manager and/or other leadership.
- Evaluates suitability of reagents and new test platform validation.
- Performs instrument maintenance, troubleshooting as needed.
- Collaborates with health care members to resolve problems, implement policies and procedures, and achieve regulatory compliance.
- Participates in meetings with a variety of stakeholders external to Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
- Manages POCT IT systems.
- Administers test performance assessments or proficiency tests to end users.
- Maintains competency in point of care testing. Participates in continuing education.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience as a medical laboratory scientist post‑licensure required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of laboratory testing platforms and systems preferred.
- Experience with teaching, training, and competency assessment practices preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills preferred.
- Licensed Clinical Lab Technologist per New York State upon hire required.
