Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Rochester, New York. This is a long-term contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise in financial operations and accounting practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting organizational goals through accurate reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and manage journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

- Perform account reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.

- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes.

- Handle corporate tax returns and sales tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulations.

- Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring proper classification of transactions.

- Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze financial data.

- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Monitor deadlines and prioritize tasks to meet organizational goals.

- Utilize advanced Excel tools to manage and analyze data effectively.

- Stay informed of accounting standards and regulatory changes to ensure compliance. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- Proven experience in core accounting functions, including journal entries and reconciliations.

- Demonstrated proficiency in corporate tax, sales tax, and financial reporting.

- Advanced knowledge of Excel and data management tools.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.

- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.

- Solid understanding of general ledger and financial analysis.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
