The GL Accountant will be responsible, together with the Accounting team, for full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for a high-growth harvesting equipment manufacturing business. This includes managing general ledger activity, performing reconciliations, analyzing financial results, and supporting internal stakeholders. The role also serves as backup for Accounts Payable and supports various Finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Close Activities- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
- Execute cash disbursement, cash receipt, and bank reconciliation activities.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing tasks.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly balance sheet schedules.
- Prepare and reconcile system uploads into the General Ledger.
- Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze results and prepare budget-to-actual variance explanations.
- Ensure accounting processes comply with internal controls, policies, and GAAP.
- Maintain and update documentation of business processes and procedures.
- Support initiatives to improve efficiency, standardization, and automation.
- Assist in maintaining organized storage of records and financial documentation.
- Serve as backup for Accounts Payable processing.
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and other teams to resolve accounting issues.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as assigned.
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Proactive self-starter and team player
- Strong detail orientation; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing interruptions
- Understanding of GAAP/ general accounting principles
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment sectors.
- Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost flow activities.
- Exposure to audit processes.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
