Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Rochester, New York. This is a Contract to permanent position within the non-profit sector, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful financial operations while advancing your career. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in corporate tax, general ledger management, and financial software, ensuring precision and compliance in all accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.

- Manage sales tax filings and resolve related discrepancies promptly.

- Record and maintain journal entries for various financial transactions.

- Oversee the general ledger to ensure proper reconciliation and reporting.

- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics CRM to streamline accounting processes and maintain financial records.

- Collaborate with internal teams to analyze financial data and prepare reports.

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.

- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

- Monitor financial activities to identify and address irregularities.

- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures. Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and filing.

- Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and reporting processes.

- Proficiency in managing journal entries and general ledger accounts.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar financial software.

- Excellent analytical skills to interpret and report financial data accurately.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.

- Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices is preferred.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
