An extremely reputable and rapidly growing manufacturing organization seeks to hire a Controller/Accounting Manager due to their continued growth and expansion. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position will serve as the senior accounting leader for multiple manufacturing operations in Western New York State and be responsible for strengthening cost accounting discipline, financial controls, and operational decision support across the organization.

This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity.

• Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, bill of materials accuracy, routings, and overhead absorption within a discrete manufacturing environment.
• Own and continuously improve variance analysis processes (material usage, labor efficiency, purchase price, and overhead), translating results into actionable insights for operations and leadership.
• Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, timely financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support margin analysis, quoting accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage and develop the accounting team (direct reports), providing leadership, training, and clear accountability for day-to-day accounting activities.
• Support the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including analysis of capital expenditures and operational investments.
• Ensure data integrity and effective use of the ERP system across cost accounting, inventory, and general ledger functions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant hands-on cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff in a plant or multi-function manufacturing setting.
• Strong ERP system experience and ability to work with complex data sets across accounting and operations.
• Proven ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and influence operational decision-making.
