Green Spark Solar is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to lead the design and engineering execution of our commercial solar installation projects. As the primary point of contact for clients on all design-related matters, the Project Engineer will manage the full design lifecycle-from conceptual design and bidding support through final commissioning. This role requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate both internal resources and external subcontractors to deliver projects safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Essential Job Functions &

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the main design contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely, professional, and clear communication.
  • Prepare for and participate in weekly client update meetings to report on project design progress.
  • Collaborate with the sales and engineering teams during pre-construction to support accurate, technically sound proposals.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans that outline scope, schedule, resource needs, and budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinate with internal design resources (e.g., electrical, structural, civil engineers) to meet deliverable timelines.
  • Procure and manage subconsultants, ensuring alignment with project specifications, local codes, and Green Spark standards.
  • Track and report project status; proactively identify and mitigate design and engineering risks.
  • Mentor and delegate work to supporting designers, promoting efficient design processes and enhancing the customer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, and permitting requirements, including NEC and local building codes.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and final handover of solar installations.
  • Maintain thorough and organized project documentation, including drawings, specs, and communication records.
Education &

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field).
  • Equivalent practical experience in design and engineering roles will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering or technical project management, ideally within the solar or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial solar PV systems and industry practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (NEC, local permitting, etc.).
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Acumatica ERP, or other construction/project software is a plus.
  • NABCEP PVIP certification preferred, or willingness to pursue.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a client-focused mindset and collaborative approach.

  • Pay Range: $70,000-$95,000, based on experience and qualifications.
