Principal Engineer

amPICQ Inc. is an emerging startup specializing in the design and development of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). Our focus lies in advancing applications in integrated photonics, with key projects targeting Quantum Communication (Quantumcom), Datacom, and Telecom sectors. We are committed to driving innovative solutions that revolutionize photonics and address real-world challenges.

This is an on-site role for a Principal Engineer in Rochester, New York, USA.

• Experience in developing Photonic Systems using Photonic Circuits is a must
• Desirable to have experience in developing a full system, starting from devices
• Experience working with device design and realisation is a plus
• Lead the development of amPICQ’s PIC-based products
• Act as the Technical Lead for a team of engineers
• Execute and deliver projects

• Photonics Design, Simulation, and Layout using:
• Experience using at least one of Ansys or Synopsys for Photonic Circuit and System Design and Simulation is a must
• Experience in High-speed design is a must
• Building custom circuit and system analysis tools is desirable
• Experience using NAZCA, LUCEDA, gdsfactory, or Synopsys for Layout is desirable
• Python or coding experience in some other language is a must
• Experience in designing as per standards is desirable

• Circuit and System-level characterization experience is a must
• Knowledge of testing standards
• High-speed characterization experience is a must

• Experience leading a team is desirable
• Being a technical lead in at least one project is a must

• Adept at self-learning
• Can present information with clarity and depth
• Accountable
