Position Overview

We’re looking for a Signal Processing-focused Digital Design and Verification Engineer to serve as the FPGA Modem Development Lead
. You’ll design, verify, and test FPGA firmware for advanced radio communication systems as part of a collaborative, cross-functional engineering team.

The ideal candidate has deep RTL design experience in VHDL and strong familiarity with System Verilog-based verification methodologies
. You’ll architect FPGA-based solutions, develop test benches, and ensure designs meet performance and reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze system requirements and architect FPGA-based processing solutions using modern digital design techniques.
  • Design and implement complex modem and DSP circuits in programmable logic (FPGA) devices.
  • Collaborate with embedded software, systems, and hardware teams to define design requirements and integration plans.
  • Develop self-checking test benches for FPGA verification using System Verilog
    .
  • Create and execute verification and validation test plans consistent with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct design and implementation reviews, presenting findings and technical updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare documentation and support internal design audits and compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
    , or a Master’s with 7 years
    . In lieu of a degree,
    13+ years of hands‑on experience in FPGA design and verification.
  • Proven experience developing and verifying FPGA/ASIC embedded systems
    .
  • Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog for RTL design.
  • Experience with System Verilog verification
    , including simulation and testbench development.
  • Familiarity with vendor tools such as Vivado, Quartus, or Libero
    .
  • Experience integrating FPGA firmware with hardware.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux-based development environment
    .
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with Mat Lab/Simulink or similar DSP modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of signal processing theory and waveform design
    .
  • Scripting experience (Python, TCL, or similar).
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
  • Working knowledge of Mentor Questa, Visualizer
    , or similar verification tools.
  • Understanding of MODEM RF design and test practices
    .
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, or SVN for version control.
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Active or eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
