Compensation: Salaried Exempt – Estimated salary range $120,000 – $180,000 annualized. Flexible benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, FSA, wellness, voluntary legal, identity theft, life insurance, short‑term & long‑term disability coverage.
This is a traveling role supporting other areas of the country; the position will not be based in NY. A monthly Living & Travel stipend is provided.
Position DescriptionLeads, directs and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or Turner trade labor on Mechanical and Electrical systems in the project. Responsible for safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to budget. Supervises Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor within the area of responsibility. Reports to the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, or MEP Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Managing performance related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade staffing levels.
- Coordinating among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation and resolving local area problems (procedures, precedence, design clarifications, labor & equipment, schedule).
- Managing the overall site safety program and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
- Supervising and developing Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns, including performance appraisals.
- Ensuring strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
- Creating schedules, determining sequencing, and developing recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget.
- Communicating with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues and investigations.
- Managing billing, payroll, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications related to work in place.
- Ensuring installations comply with approved contract documents.
- Coordinating with the Engineer for coordination of mechanical & electrical systems, equipment, and piping layouts with all trades using master coordination drawings and 3‑D models.
- Leading project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training, and punchlist processes for system acceptance and handover.
- Coordinating, directing, and monitoring subcontractor and supplier activities to secure conformance with plans, specifications, local and national codes.
- Reviewing project changes in conjunction with the Project Engineer.
- Keeping detailed daily records of MEPS trade contractors’ work progress.
- Participating in preconstruction efforts such as constructability and logistics.
- Bachelor's degree or at least four years of formal engineering or architectural experience and a minimum of six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of building construction, methods, scheduling, cost control, general contract conditions, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Specific knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
- Thorough knowledge of Building Information Modeling and its use in coordination of Mechanical and Electrical systems and other project systems.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
Requires climbing stairs, using hoists, climbing ladders, operating in confined spaces, lifting up to 75 lbs, and basic vision requirements (close, peripheral, depth). Hands, feet, and body movement are required; standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be required.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed on a construction site with exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical shock risk. Noise levels are moderate to very loud.
