Overview
We are hiring a Protection and Control Engineer in LaBella's Program Management Services Division at our client’s office in Rochester, NY. The division provides management services for complex projects and multi-year capital programs, with teams offering a customized mix of business consulting, project management, financial control and monitoring, administrative, and technical support services.
Responsibilities- Act as an independent advocate for the client in all aspects of project development, execution, and completion in protection, control, and metering.
- Provide support to clients in protection and control aspects of various engineering design packages.
- Review and evaluate engineering documentation to ensure alignment with project specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Thoroughly review protection and control system design documents (single-line diagrams, relay protection schemes, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated documentation) prepared by detailed engineering firms.
- Lead protection and control discipline from tender through project execution to contract closure; coordinate with program stakeholders and client engineering disciplines related to protection, SCADA, and communications.
- Represent the project team in technical and project meetings; monitor design modification proposals and assess their suitability for the project; review non-conformities and evaluate corrective actions.
- Inspect commissioning of protection and control systems and equipment; review and approve root cause failure analyses and related corrective actions; provide responses to protection and control inquiries.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- 5 years of protection and controls experience in the power industry
- Experience in design, management, and commissioning of protection and control systems for distribution and distribution automation projects
- Experience with Distributed Energy Resource management processes and regulations
- Experience with Quality Management System standards (e.g., ISO-9001)
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Candidates with a Maine PE license or ability to obtain one within one year will be given preference
Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr – $/yr. Salary offered may be influenced by experience, education, and work location.
