The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for leading, implementing, and continuously improving Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. This role partners closely with operations and leadership to proactively manage risk, strengthen regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Safety & Regulatory Compliance- Lead and ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across core safety programs, including LOTO, confined space, hot work, fall protection, PPE, contractor/construction safety, electrical safety (NFPA 70E), and ergonomics.
- Oversee environmental compliance related to waste management, emissions, and pollution control.
- Support permitting and regulatory requirements, including RCRA, SPDES, chemical and petroleum bulk storage, and Title V air permits.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct workplace inspections and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA); identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Design and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement and leadership collaboration.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and regulatory reporting.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
- Track EHS metrics, maintain compliance records, and recommend program improvements aligned with regulatory and industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- CSP, CIH, or similar professional certification strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in an industrial or utility environment.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, training delivery, risk assessment, and compliance systems.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
