Location: City of Rochester

Overview

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. is seeking an experienced full-time Construction Inspector within the Western Region of New York State to provide construction management services on State University Construction Fund projects throughout the Syracuse, Buffalo, and/or Rochester, NY areas.

Responsibilities
  • Performs construction inspection to observe work in progress on various SUCF projects.
  • Monitor contractor’s daily activities and use applicable field testing and inspection procedures and equipment to perform required field testing to determine compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
  • Prepare daily field reports, including communication of deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives.
  • Interpret drawings and documents, including work orders and build documents.
  • Follow project safety protocol.
  • All related duties as required to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess at least one of the following AND a High School Diploma/equivalent:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent or Higher in Engineering;
  • Valid NICET Level II or Higher;
  • Relevant work experience is strongly preferred;
  • Basic understanding and ability to interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documents;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, supervisors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results;
  • Detail-oriented, with capability to detect non-conformities during testing procedures and complete detailed reports in a timely manner;
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites, as regular daily travel is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Operate in a stationary position when required and handle, inspect, and/or respond to documents, materials and equipment relevant to the job;
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using company systems;
  • Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending terrain or ladders, to access testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods;
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for monitoring and inspections;
  • Maintain good visual skills and depth perception;
  • Operate a motor vehicle as part of daily duties, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods.

Salary & Benefits

Base pay range
: $50.00/hr - $78.00/hr
