Civil Service TitleMinimum Requirements
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification in Music Education (preferred)
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification in Music Education (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field
- Experience Teaching Elementary-aged Students (K5 Preferred)
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to establish routines quickly
- Knowledge of elementary music pedagogy
- Experience leading vocal and/or instrumental ensembles
- Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to collaborate with grade-level teams and support school-wide initiatives
- Proficiency with music technology and instructional tools (e.g., Smart Board, Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.)
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally responsive music classroom
- Flexible, positive, and student-centered mindset
- Deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction to students in grades K5
- Implement existing curriculum plans and pacing guides while maintaining instructional continuity
- Prepare students for school performances, assemblies, and special events as needed
- Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment
- Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and equipment responsibly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration
- Communicate with families regarding student progress and classroom updates
- Support school-wide expectations and behavior systems
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional responsibilities as appropriate
