About the Organization CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region and Greater Rochester Area. Our agencies offer educational, therapeutic, recreational, residential and family support programs for children and adults with and without disabilities. On average, we serve 3,650 families each year and employ approximately 600 people.
Our staff includes professionals with expertise in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical, Occupational, Speech and Music Therapies, Psychology, Service Coordination, Nursing, Dental Services, and Developmental Disabilities. We are committed to serving individuals with autism, traumatic brain injury, neurological impairments and a wide variety of developmental disabilities, partnering with individuals and families to support goals.

PositionJob Title: Early Childhood Education Teacher
Location: CP Rochester - Winton Road Facility
Salary: $42,000 - $50,000 per year commensurate with experience
Sign-on Bonus: This position is eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus. This bonus is earned and payable as follows: 50% ($1,500) after the 6-month anniversary of employment; and 50% ($1,500) after the 1-year anniversary of employment.
Employment: Full Time / 10-Month School Year (Summers off) - 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm). This position follows the school calendar and vacations are taken during paid school breaks. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Summary/ObjectiveThe Early Childhood Education Teacher teaches young children in an integrated pre-school classroom with the Special Education Teacher. Creates and maintains a structured, effective program and a safe environment that supports the individual development needs of the children.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education with NYS certification in Childhood Education. Early Childhood Certification (Birth-Grade
2) preferred. - Experience working with young children.
- Knowledge of child development and student learning.
- Knowledge of content and instructional planning and implementation.
- Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

- Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
- Ensure a meaningful and individualized educational experience for all students.
- Administers developmental assessments to all students to gather data to meet individual development needs.
- Works with the Special Education Teacher to coordinate a structured program and safe environment that provides for the individual development needs of the children.
- Coordinates daily and weekly lesson plans with the Special Education Teacher that are available for review by the Program Director or the Education Coordinator.
- Maintains all necessary paperwork in portfolios for each child.
- Participates in all parent-teacher conferences for children in the New Friends program.
- Attends all team, discipline and staff meetings as designated.
- Creates lesson plans using NYS Learning Standards and agency selected curriculum.
- Supervises classroom paraprofessionals, aides and assistants, students, volunteers and others involved in helping capacities with input from the Special Education Teacher.
- Completes annual performance appraisals for paraprofessionals, teaching assistants and teacher aides with input from the Special Education Teacher.
- Schedules parent and family classroom visits in conjunction with the Special Education Teacher.
- Develops an annual inventory of all classroom equipment and supplies together with the Special Education Teacher.
