Weekday Evenings, Weekends

$17/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership

Under the general direction of the Membership Director, the Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the planning, supervision, and implementation of programming of all Youth and Family Engagement programming. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the day-to-day youth, teen and family operations, programs, and classes, including daily work schedules and proper staff coverage.
  • Works direct service weeknights 5:00 pm to 9:00pm and weekends as assigned, providing drop-in and scheduled programs/events for families and youth ages 8 – 17.
  • Act as a liaison for parent concerns in areas of responsibility.
  • Work as a key leader to assure that a safe, fun, and quality program is provided to members.
  • With guidance from the Director, enhance and increase youth, teen and family programs and services.
  • Assists with the overall facility appearance of the youth engagement program areas, as well as sports and recreational equipment.
  • Supervise participants to ensure safety. Advise all staff, volunteers, members, and program participants of safety issues as needed.
  • Ensures all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems. Ensure department is adhering Emergency Action Plans, and Association Safety Policy.
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least one year experience in a supervisory role with skills in training, and staff management.
  • High level of attention to detail and quality of programming, service, and facilities.
  • Must demonstrate competencies in program development, as well as organizational skills, and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, maturity and must be able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift at least twenty-five pounds.
