Responsibilities

The University of Rochester's Institute for the Performing Arts (IPA) seeks a part-time Administrative Assistant to assist with administration and programming. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Director to further its existing programs such as the Visiting Artist residency, including the ARTs + Change Virtual Conference, C.A.S.H. mini-grants for student collaborations, as well as work to develop new initiatives.

Responsibilities will include supporting the activities of IPA Student Council, managing social media, creating posters and programs, assisting with internal grant awards to faculty and students, assisting with marketing and promotion, interfacing with and processing contracts for guest artists and collaborators, and working with the IPA Director to develop and promote new initiatives.

About the IPA

The mission of the University of Rochester's Institute for the Performing Arts (IPA) is to support, cultivate, and promote engagement in the performing arts, encompassing scholarship, performance, and attendance at events, within the College, the university, the Rochester community, and the western New York region. The IPA is grounded in the Program of Dance and Movement
, the Arthur Satz Department of Music
, and the International Theatre Program within the School of Arts and Sciences. The Institute positions itself as an eager ally in supporting the goals and objectives of those programs, and also serves as an important force in encouraging a more unified functioning and richer interaction of the arts on campus.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Works with director to develop and administer new and existing programs such as ARTs+Change Conference CASH minigrants, Projects in the Performing Arts (PPA), etc.
  • Works with Student Council to promote multi-disciplinary student engagement and to supervise student-led activities to connect students in the performing arts.
  • Engages with social media, graphic design for posters/programs, and general efforts towards increased visibility of the performing arts at UR.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Required
  • Bachelors degree with major or minor in performing arts related field required
  • 1-3 years experience in arts, marketing, sales or public relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • General administrative skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as a team member
Preferred
  • Proficient with social media (including FB, Instagram, X, You Tube, etc.)
  • Graphic design experience
  • Some experience with grants management preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.80 - $33.32 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
