VHS is actively seeking dedicated General Medicine Physicians to provide crucial Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans nationwide. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while maintaining flexible scheduling. If you have a background in internal or family medicine, or experience with compensation and pension evaluations, and are interested in a rewarding, part-time role, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you'll perform brief interview-based assessments and light physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, without any prescribing or treatment responsibilities. The position offers the flexibility to work on a PRN basis, with the option to select half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, based on your availability. Candidates must have their own office location in Ithaca or Trumansburg, NY, with work scheduled once a week in Ithaca and three times weekly in Trumansburg.
Key qualifications include excellent communication skills, the ability to efficiently perform assessments, and a current license to practice medicine with relevant experience. Additional skills such as familiarity with compensation and pension evaluations or orthopedic experience are beneficial but not mandatory.
Preferred candidates will have a medical degree (MD or DO), valid state licensure in New York, and prior experience in internal medicine, family medicine, or related fields. Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform quick, accurate assessments are critical.
Other requirements include having your own office space in the designated locations, a commitment to completing training, and the ability to perform follow-up administrative tasks related to report writing and documentation. Travel is included in the pay rate, and the role is compliant with all applicable state and federal laws.
This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $624.00, with flat rates of $800 for half-day shifts and $1600 for full days, along with a one-time bonus of $650 upon completion of initial training and first exams. Benefits include weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical coverage (W-2), paid sick leave, licensure and certification reimbursements where applicable, plus a supportive, dedicated team committed to your success.
If you are committed to serving Veterans and meet the qualifications listed, seize this opportunity to advance your career while making a meaningful difference. Apply now to become part of our team and help Veterans receive the care they deserve.
