The Attending Staff Physician is the attending of record for assigned residents. The Attending Physician provides direction and coordination of medical care for assigned long term care (LTC) and short-term rehabilitation program (SRP) residents of the Jewish Home. The Attending Physician is a valued member of the interdisciplinary care team reporting directly to the Vice President of Medical Services / Chief Medical Officer.
The attending physician works collaboratively with residents, families, staff, and external providers and services to ensure excellent person-centered medical care.
Doctor of allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Licensed to practice medicine in New York State. Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine. Added qualifications and/or board certification in geriatrics and/or hospice and palliative medicine are highly desirable. Certified Medical Director (CMD) Certification by the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association is desirable.
Essential Functions- Provide medical care in accordance with the usual standard of care and consistent with the needs and values of residents and families in compliance with regulatory and billing requirements.
- Document services in a manner that supports accurate billing and compliance.
- Collaborate with and support facility advanced practice providers.
- Skilled in use of electronic medical records.
- Participate in the on-call coverage system as assigned.
- Participate in prevention and monitoring of infectious disease in the facility.
- Participate in education and performance improvement activities.
- Assist in the development and review of clinical policies and procedures as assigned.
- Demonstrate personal active learning and continued education.
- Represent the Jewish Home in the community and in professional forums as appropriate.
- Maintain licensure, board certifications, and medical staff appointment at Jewish Home.
- Participate in training activities.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working as part of an interdisciplinary care team or fellowship training in geriatrics or hospice and palliative medicine.
Salary Range$260,000-$285,000 commensurate with experience, plus eligibility for a variable, performance-based compensation program in addition to base salary.
