Director of Purchasing - Plastics - Base Salary to 220k/year - Rochester, NY

• Our client is a leading family-owned company focused on Flexible Packaging is hiring for a Director of Purchasing that would be based out of Rochester, NY, Story City, IA, or Columbus, WI locations. They have been in business for over 100 years and are continuing to grow more each year. They specialize in flexographic, rotogravure, digital printing and lamination. • The Director of Purchasing contributes to the bottom line of an organization by utilizing analytical, forecasting and negotiation skills to oversee the procurement of raw materials and Logistical/transportation services on favorable terms. The Director of Purchasing leads and guides a direct and indirect staff of professionals who stay on top of lead times to assist with manufacturing and distribution planning. They report on material expenses so finished goods can be priced correctly, and they support a firm’s production and sales efforts by ensuring materials orders and inventories stay on track.

• Oversee the sourcing and qualification of new suppliers and transportation providers across the supply chain.
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships, including commercial negotiations and performance management.
• Lead purchasing contract negotiations, ensuring cost, service, and risk objectives are met.
• Resolve order issues, grievances, and discrepancies to minimize supply disruption.
• Manage the end-to-end purchasing process from request for proposal (RFP) through delivery.
• Review and analyze procurement and logistics processes to reduce waste, errors, and inefficiencies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including production, customer service, sales, technical, safety, and environmental, on supply chain initiatives.
• Direct and develop a team of raw material category managers and the Corporate Transportation Manager.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain or Similar required.
• 10+ years of experience in Purchasing
• Experience in a plastics packaging setting is required
• Ability to work on-site in one of the following locations:
  Rochester, NY (preferred), Story City, IA, or Columbus, WI.

• Base salary to 220k/year
